Tsavo West

Tsavo West National Park is the first park to be gazetted in Kenya in 1946 with over 9000sq km. Characterized by acacia woodlands, belts of riverine vegetation and rocky ridges, the park has one of the most breathtaking landscapes especially of the Shetani lava flow.

The attraction includes the Poacher’s Lookout where visitors can see the teeming herds in the plains below, the Mzima Springs an underground water source from the volcanic chyulu hills and other underground streams.

Wildlife occasionally seen include elephant, rhino, Hippos, lions, cheetah, leopards, Buffalos and rarely the wild dogs. A diverse birdlife of about 400 bird species, 20 of which are seasonal European migrants have been recorded.
