Nakuru

Nakuru is the fourth largest city in Kenya, and its greatest attraction is the lake that is located within the Lake Nakuru National Park. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lake Nakuru National Park that covers an area of about 188sq km is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Kenya. It’s famous for its large concentration of flamingoes that flock to the Lake which is also their breeding ground and stopover for many other species of birds.

Lake Nakuru is a shallow alkaline lake surrounded by stretches of acacia woodland and rocky hillsides covered with a Euphorbia forest. Also of interest is that the park is a sanctuary for the endangered Rothschild giraffes and black and white rhinos not forgetting the over 350 species of birds found here, making this one of the best ornithological sites in the world. Other animal species to be seen include buffaloes, warthogs, impalas, gazelles, eland, lions, leopards and many more.
